The Necessity of a Strong Council

The strongest school improvement plans are not formulated by an army of one (or two or three), but rather a cross-section of the community.

When looking at your current Council list, be sure to determine if it is up-to-date. Have any new businesses come into the community? Invite them to the table. You’ll always have new students–their parents will offer fresh ideas. At the same time, it will afford them the chance to learn about the elements of the SIP and be advocates of it to other parents in the school system. Don’t assume that people won’t want to serve; invite them and let them decide.

Even though the due date for rosters and meeting minutes for the first council discussion has passed, it isn’t too late to add new people to your council and get them up to speed! Learn more.
