Evidence-Based Research–Why?

Over the years I have read many extremely well thought-out Interventions for student success. Nevertheless, many times a vital piece is missing: evidence-based research. Sometimes it becomes almost too easy to skip this part in the development of an Intervention.

Based on achievement data and root causes, Interventions sometimes come very easily to mind; specific students pop into the mind that this new Intervention will help.

If you know exactly what those students need to succeed, why not just proceed with your instincts?

The simple answer is this: Will it truly work in your school’s environment? How to you know?

Let’s look at this topic in-depth over the next several months and determine how it will make a good Intervention even better.
